[Icom] Removing Icom 765 plastic dial window?

A bit of dust has built up behind the plastic dial/meter window between the
clear plastic and the front panel.  It appears from the service manual that
there are 3 or 4 screws that secure the plastic to the front panel.  When I
had the front panel off for another reason, I could see that the screw heads
are hidden behind the light gray plastic strip on the front-bottom of the
window (the one that carries the Icom logo and model number).  It appears
that this strip is glued on and removal isn't possible.  Has anyone ever
removed this strip and how did you do it?
