	Hi Guys,

	I bought one of the 756 Pro "closeouts" last month and I'm enjoying
it as much as any new rig I ever had. Phone or CW, it's a great performer.
The IC751a has been my benchmark for a great transceiver.

	I did find that the hand mic is not optimal. The Heil Gold line,
Hmi, or the Astatic D104 (mine has a preamp) work great. I use the D104 with
the bass at +5, the treble at +3, the compressor on and wide for SSB. I
mostly work CW though, and the full break in is every bit as pleasurable as
it is on the OMNI 6+ that I traded for the rig. I'm told by Icom that the
switching is electronic so there is no maintenance penalty on the relay when
using this feature.

	The only niggle I had with this rig was with the cosmetics of the
stock main tuning knob they have on the Pro. I went to the parts bin and
found that the IC751a tire is an exact match for the 756Pro tire, and
greatly improves the look of the entire front panel. Just awesome. The
TenTec OMNI tire also fits perfectly and is available new from TenTec. The
last time I tried getting a 751a tire from Icom is was not available
however.

	I kicked myself for years for missing the 751a closeout, sure am
glad I didn't miss the 756Pro closeout!
