You're correct, of course, it's all in the way the reflector is
configured.
I, for one, sure like it the way it is.
This way when a question comes up, we all can learn something from the
answer.
If it were configured the other way, a great many conversations, from
which we all can learn either about the capabilities, or the values of
our radios, would be "private" and therefore unavailable to the members
of the list. Much good info would not be disseminated. On the other
hand, if we truly want something to be private, we can always take the
extra 30 seconds or so to cut and paste the sender's e-dress into the to
box in place of the list's address..
As I recall, numerous surveys have been taken and the result is always
the same.
Leave it the way it is.
I guess I can always use the delete key on messages that don't interest
me and read (and maybe save) those that do.
An important thing for ALL of us to remember is to keep the subject line
relevant to the discussion.
If the context (subject) of the discussion changes, IMHO, we should
remember to change the subject line to accurately reflect the content.
This way the above delete / read / save options above can be made to
work much more easily.
