I have been watching the 765 thread with interest. I have an IC-765, s/n
01226, that exhibits terrible audio sometimes on strong signals. I have
replaced the plastic trimmer caps (per one of the references I don't have at
hand right now) and that helped somewhat, but not a total cure. Noise
blanker use makes this one worse, and I have to use it sometimes to kill the
fence charger my neighbor has for his cattle, hi hi. I find two articles
referenced in the QST archives and wonder if anyone has seen them (or
perhaps has them and would share) and would comment on their usefullness.
One is in QST, Sep 96, pg 77, by AC5AA on revisiting 765 mods, and the other
one is QST, Dec 95, pg 78, by N6BV on "Better Sounding Audio and Smoother
AGC Performance" which definitely sounds interesting. Any comments on these
from the group?? Tks, and enjoying seeing the posts on all.
