I agree.  I have an IC-575A (25 watts with internal 110 volt supply).  The first
summer of operation, it started developing intermittant problems after it had
been on for an hour or two.  It was happy when the shack temperature was 60, but
didn't like 80 degrees at all.  I have since been running it on an external 12
volt supply with no trouble.
