I'm in the same boat too, have a 97 burb and want to go HF.

I saw an interesting antenna mounting configuration recently on buses in
Australia and safari landrovers in Kenya. They have the same problem as
us, boxy vehicle. Their solution was to mount the antenna in the middle
of the front bumper and angle it away from the grille. They both use
what looked like a variation of antenna like the Outback with taps for
the different bands. The setup worked great we talked from all over
Kenya back to Nairobi and from the middle of the outback to Sydney. When
I get my mobile HF rig I'm going to try it.
