Once I have made a suggestion to group of TX hams to bring their “72 hours emergency kit” to the FD and actually use it during the festivities. The reactions I got were sad but understandable.

What is a 72 hour emergency what?
What, no BBQ?
You expect me to use garbage bag to relive myself into?
No ice?
…..
But the top honors went to – “we have “winter FD” because it is to hot to have an emergency drill in June”.

I suggested to them to check when hurricane seasons starts!
