Due to technical issues with the serial control line from the RLC3
controller to the ICOM 706MKII, I haven't been able to complete the remote
base system on the 444.5 BPT rptr.

However, to add to the fun and allow Techs to experience HF, the remote base
has been parked on 29.600 FM simplex!!! The band has been open all day and I
worked several stations via my UHF HT while mobile..

For Techs on UHF, they can legally operate this as it is considered a cross
band rptr with me as trustee (however the CW ID on the 10m side will say
W5APX!)

SOOO if you are a Technician, YES you can legally talk to the stations on
29.6 through the rptr even though you CANNOT talk to them directly (That's
the rules.the same applies to the OSCAR sats, etc).

Also 444.5 likely has a bad PA..it is running reduced power right
now...(could be a bad jumper.I'll know more soon).so if you have issues
copying it, it will be fixed soon..For those wishing access to the 29.6MHz
remote base when I am not monitoring, please get with me in private
email. All control ops have or will be given the codes of course.

Enjoy the world wide experience from your UHF HT or mobile..more to come!
