[HoustonHam] Digital TV ??

RF is RF..antennas don't care what mode it is..any antenna today will work
after 2/17/09...there wont be anything below CH 7 though to pick up (most
DTVs will be in the 7-51 range...only a handful will be on 2-6 nationwide
and they want to move if possible..Digital TV doesn't work so well on
lowband it seems..DUH!)

The convertor box IS needed to pick up the digital signals and convert it to
a standard analog signal so your OLD analog TV is still usable..IF you have
a TV with a ATSC digital tuner, you already are capable of watching HDTV (or
at least DTV)..but any analog (NTSC) TV will need the box (except for LOW
POWER stations like Channel 43.they will remain analog and will stay on the
air.until the FCC mandates their change to digital as well) Only HIGH
power/Full Service TV stations are affected by the digital transition..

2,8,11,13,14,20,22,26,39, 45,47,48,51,55,57,61...I think that's the entire
list of the stations affected.

Very interesting cause I have heard just the opposite that the TV antenna
that someone is using today won't be able to receive the Digital signal in
the future.

Now where does this digital converter box come into play.

Its being used so that you can receive digital signals when Feb. 2009 gets
here, without that box you cannot view dig TV...Am I correct on that?

The antenna is a antenna and it does not care what the video signal is just
the rf signal.

You got it correct HYPE and the scam of needing a special antenna is just
that.

The media hype about "better quality, more channels etc." comes with the
digital technology.

Are there any naming standards for the additional multiplexed sub channels?

There are opinions about that the receiving antenna for digital TV must be
"special".

Should commonly used LP TV outdoor antenna work just fine in digital TV
word?
