Hi Loren,

There are quite a few hams who build at least some things. I'm presently
reworking an ARC-5 receiver that can cover the 600 meter for another
ham. I will be be building a transverter (transmitting converter) so
that I can use my T-599 Kenwod to get on the WARC bands via it's
"transverter" output. That transmitter also doesn't cover 160 meters
even though the "matching" receiver sitting next to it covers 160 and 30
meters! That receiver also has an empty, available bandswitch position
that can be setup for any band I want (I choose 17 meters).

After that I will be building a heterodyne VFO to use with the old boat
anchor MOPA type transmitters. In a heterodyne VFO, output will be on
160 and 40 meters to tickle those old boxes into new life. It uses a VFO
and one of two xtals. Instead of keying an oscillator the oscillators
run all the time and the mixer is keyed instead (and the rest of the
output chain) along with the transmitter.

And then a set of transmitters to use with the ARC-5 receivers on 600,
160, 80, and 40 meters - CW. During the new construction I also have
some repair and maintenance work to do on gear I already have.

There's more but that's enough for now.

What are you building or what are you interested in building?

73,

Bill KU8H
