[HomeBrew] BPF question

This is probably a dumb question .I've built up a 10 meter Band Pass filter
and I would like to check it. I have a DDS freq generator, a freq counter
and a scope .Can I just sweep the filter and watch my freq counter for
output or do I need to also use the scope and see when the output waveform
starts dropping off and check that against my freq counter?
