Chrome plates pins don't solder. Use some Emory cloth to remove the chrome
plating from the tip of the pin. Then tin the tip keeping the hole open.
Insert tinned wires into the pins and solder. After soldering cut off the
excess wire and dress the pin with the Emory cloth.

Under the chrome plated you will find the pin is made of brass. The brass is
easy to solder.

Don't buy PL-259 connectors at RatShack!
