Pete,

I made a 9V battery holder from one of the "medium" size ones by
cutting a round hold in a metal project box just large enough to
allow the pill bottle to be poked in almost to the cap.  Glue in
place.  Use a small hole in the bottom of the bottle for the battery
leads.  Use battery leads long enough to allow easy connection
to the battery.  To use, insert battery, replace cap.  Makes it easy
to change or remove a battery.

Also, coil forms or covers for coils come to mind.  Many uses.
