Mike-
Good news, I finally was able to speak with someone with authority and care, they agreed that the shipping dept. should have been more efficient. Since UPS charges an " excess length charge" for the 8' shipping tubes the shipping dept. should have honored my request to pack all 8' items into one tube, instead of using 3 tubes. The "excess length charge" is 15.00 per shipping tube { !!} and this almost tripled the quoted shipping charge when my order was placed. I did find out they will not cut the material, they ship it only as shown in catalog. I don't have a problem at all with that, I just want them to get better utilization of an expensive shipping container. Since they are quite a bit cheaper than local hardware store it is worth shipping the items.
I guess this serves as a warning of the cost-potential of a non-caring shipping manager. I spoke with the transportation manager who said this should not have happened. When I was speaking with the shipping manager she said to me { when I asked to speak to her manager}"that she had no manager, she made the decisions" but as I discovered the trans. manager has authority over shipping manager.
My faith is restored in doing business with them!
            Thanks, Byron.
