[HomeBrew] Electric Fence Noise

My cure probably won't work for you but it is funny.
My neighbor asked me if he could put a fence up in my back yard (one
acre) so he could put some cattle back there. The plus for me was that
the cattle would eat the grass down and I would not have to mow. Sounded
good, less work. What he neglected to tell me was "electric fence".
I watched them drive the "T" posts across the yard one foot from my
HyGain AV-620 vertical. The next day I was gone and when I returned near
dusk I could barely see what I thought was barbed wire strung between
the posts and about six or seven cows.
After dark I fired up the rig and started hearing the unmistakable
signature of an electric fence. I have a Yaesu FT-920 and with the noise
blanker set at its lowest setting the noise was completely gone. (Thank
you Yaesu for making excellent blankers).
I decided not to say anything since it did not cause a problem on any
band but about three weeks later I noticed that the noise had vanished.
I asked him about the fence and he said he took it down. The reason was
that he was driving a four wheeler loaded with feed for his pigs to the
barn and got clotheslined by the electric wire and got hit several times
before he could get free. Then on the way back from the barn he did it
again!
There is now a barbed wire fence.
Good luck!

My neighbour has a newly installed electric fence. It seems to be
installed OK and has 3 earth rods spaced about 10 feet apart. Noise
blanker on the Kenwood copes OK most of time although on the low bands
the choice is listening to a click, with it off, or a plop with it on.
Any of you had experience in reducing the noise with an RF choke on the
fence wire? Saw a posting on another list suggesting a 1mH worked OK.
But the very high voltage might destroy the choke. Don't want to be
responsible for cows on the highway!
Was thinking 15 turns of heavy well insulated wire on a 2 inch toroid
might be sufficient. Appreciate your thoughts.
