Thanks to all for clarifying the formula!

One serious amp!  Shame it won't run on three
12vdc deep cycle batteries ... :-) 

I did get 2/3's of the way through creating a 160-10m
1KW solid state amp but even with lots of help it was
not the project for me ... a friend has it at the moment 
but his health prevents him from completing it ... 
requires just over 50 volts dc at about 50 amps!

Now if those new 48vdc (nominal) car batteries would 
hurry up and hit the market ... :-)
