This email is a note about a SIMULATED exercise hurricane Makani Pahili,
and not a real hurricane. This is a drill, and not for rebroadcast.
This is only a drill.

Amateur Radio Operators,

For the State-wide Hurricane Exercise this Saturday, the National
Weather Service has issued a set of simulated weather products for
simulated Hurricane Makani Pahili. This is a simulated hurricane and
not a real hurricane system, with a simulated hurricane landfall of this
Saturday morning at 11:00 am. The time of the simulated landfall is set
within the amateur radio exercise window of 9:00 am to 12 noon to give
amateur radio operators practice of procedures and methods in the event
of a real hurricane.

Currently, Maui is simulating hurricane watch conditions and the Big
Island is simulating hurricane warning conditions.

A summary of simulated hurricane Makani Pahili is:

SUMMARY OF 500 AM HST...1500 UTC...INFORMATION
----------------------------------------------
LOCATION...17.7N 151.3W
ABOUT 300 MI ESE OF SOUTH POINT HAWAII
ABOUT 495 MI ESE OF HONOLULU HAWAII
MAXIMUM SUSTAINED WINDS...70 MPH
PRESENT MOVEMENT...W OR 270 DEGREES AT 7 MPH
MINIMUM CENTRAL PRESSURE...995 MB...29.38 INCHES

The above information is not a real storm system.

As a reminder, should simulated hurricane Makani Pahili hit landfall,
your repeater will go off the air unless you have hurricane rated
antennas installed and a power source independent of electric company
commercial mains and remain off the air for the remainder of Saturday's
exercise. Review your procedures for operating without repeaters.

Again, this email is a note about a SIMULATED exercise hurricane Makani
Pahili, and not a real hurricane. This is a drill, and not for
rebroadcast. This is a drill.
