Dennis and others,
I was one of the 4 hams who attended yesterday's (April 9th) City
Council Transportation and Planning Meeting.

Re: Cell phone legislation bill:
Bill 4, CD 2 (Councilman Okino's version with a modification) is
referred for 3rd reading on May 27th.
The modification is to make the definition of operating a motor
vehicle consistent with the Hawaii Revised Statutes's definition .
The bill includes an exemption for amateur radio operators licensed
by the FCC as we had previously requested.

Updates and concerns are on Ron's (AH6RH) web site.
http://www.qsl.net/ah6rh/am-radio/cellular-phone-ordinance.html
See section: Results of Transportation and Planning Committee
Meeting, April 9th

For a copy of Bill 4 CD 2 which is the basis of the bill moving
forward to 3rd reading , see the Agenda, item 5 at:
  http://www4.honolulu.gov/docushare/dsweb/Get/Document-87084/040909%20TP%20Agendafs.htm

This has links to the various texts of the bill and other related
communications.

Also, you can go to the web site below and click on the video of the
entire Transportation & Planning Meeting of April 9th
  http://www.qsl.net/ah6rh/am-radio/cellular-phone-ordinance.html
There's a search function. Search for Bill 4 so you don't have to
watch irrelevant stuff. (Some of the captioning says CD1, but it is
really CD2.)

Bev, AH6NF
