[HIham] converting PC power supplies for 12 volt ham use

To all:

Several QST issues from a few years ago describe converting old PC  
power supplies for ham use (as 12 volt regulated supplies).

Certainly the price is right (free hi) and some of the supplies seem  
capable of surprisingly high DC output.

Has anyone around Honolulu tackled this project ?  Appreciate comments  
from anyone, as I have the chance to grab several units being tossed.
