[HIham] Re: [hamradiohawaii] Why Contact the Hawaii House Members?

I forgot one possible important reason why
each neighborhood on each island needs at
least one amateur radio set up in operation:

Here on Kauai following Iniki, many of our
roads were blocked for days. Some of us,
including my QTH area, were forced to "stay
home" for a few days as we couldn't go
anywhere even if we wanted to! Then,
when a tiny bit of looting occurred, the Army
set up road blocks, and you could not leave/
enter some areas without ID and a valid reason
to enter. I had quite a time gaining access to
Dr. John Dillon's, KH6FMT's, neighborhood at
Poipu for just that reason. His home was rendered
completely non-habitable as it sits atop Poipu Crater,
and I knew he had to be in trouble!

Anyway, I should probably not send an "addendum" to
my today's submission; but one of you who has yet
to do so, could work this need idea into your input
to the legislators. We need a network of operable
ham stations on each of our islands, and the network
must include the CC&R and condo communities.
