Subject: 2 Meter Propagation Test

Kevin, I am thinking of setting up a very large 2 Meter band Rhombic (17 wavelengths per leg) pointed at Hawaii during the CQ VHF Worldwide contest.

In addition to using this antenna on SSB for the contest, I would also like to assemble data using various 2 Meter FM repeaters in Hawaii. If you can help me to get in touch with knowledgeable Ham's, who know the output power and antenna gain of their 2 Meter repeaters, I will be able to assess my antenna.

My Rhombic will be horizontally polarized but, I can also then assess relative polarization twisting over the path. I am hopeful I may also be able to get a few FM only oriented Hawaiian Ham's to put up horizontal antennas in an attempt to communicate with me on this weekend! I will be located in the Angeles Forest near Mount Baldy California.

73! de John WA6BFH
