[HIham] A second opinion re report on EARC meeting in Re: [HIham] mission statement, progress report - ham swap meet

My understanding from attending the 4/22/04 EARC meeting is as follows:

1) The ham swap meet has received approval of "sponsorship" from KARC, and
is receiving "support" from EARC. For some, that appeared adequate to
proceed. Other potential sponsors were suggested, and an invitation was
issued from a representative of another organization to present the matter
at their meeting.

2) We heard that EARC has a bylaw requiring that matters brought to
membership vote will be announced to be on the agenda prior to a meeting.
This sounds like a public notice rule which protects us members by providing
for "open" and "transparent" decision-making. Presumably the intent is to
inform interested and concerned members so they can attend and participate
if they choose. The opportunity to put the matter on a forthcoming meeting
agenda was offered.

3) The discussion did not get to the proposed mission statement; therefore
lack of comment on it only means it hasn't been discussed yet. I think it
was assumed by the group it would go onto a future agenda with the
sponsorship issue if that route is taken.

Editorial comments: Folks, I imagine this should be easier to resolve than
addressing CC&Rs. There was great praise for the swap meet expressed and
thanks and recognition given to Warren for his role in making it happen.
