I'm looking for someone new to Amateur Radio that wants to explore the
world of VHF and UHF (2M, 1.25M, 70cm). I know there are many of you
"old timers" out there that could answer my questions, but I want to
find out some of these things for myself. Some things are hard to
quantify with words and you just need to see or hear for yourself to
truly appreciate or understand. Some of the things I'm curious about are:

How far will various power levels transmit?

How much do some buildings interfere with signal strength?

How about hills or valleys or even my car?

How much of a difference does an after-market antenna make vs. the
stock antenna?

What is the usable areas for various repeaters?

These are just some of the things I'm curious about. I'm also wanting
to become more familiar with the transceiver I bought.

So, if you're new to amateur radio, own a UHF and/or VHF, are curious,
and want to do some first-hand experimenting, email me.

I hope you "old timers" won't be offended by my excluding you. It's
just that I think you would be bored by the "basics" we would be likely
to go through.
