Aloha Russel, Yes, you can count onmy backing the legislation which
protects amateur "ham" radio operastors. One of my key team members, Wm.
Crawley, is an engineer in the telecom field and an avid "operator". As a
former member of CAP, as a JAG offcer for ther Hawaii Nat'l Guard Adjutant
General, I was involved in the clean up of the Civil Defense Planning that
occurred after Iniki. I am fully aware of the vital part the ham operators
provide during times of Natioanl Emergency, icluding during WWII. I am
forwarding this to Bill Crawley, and he may add to my comments. He will be
a close advisor to me on all telecom issues if I am elected. He worked for
NYNEX and FLAG, twocompanies that have cabled the world together.

I also hate it when the gov't tries to make money by invading areas which
have traditionally been the province of amateurs, this includes boating,
aviation and public hunting amoong others. Happy New Year. I can't imagine
anyone not supporting these measures. John Carroll
