Both hamradiohawaii and hiham serve the hawaii amateur radio
community to provide information of general amateur radio interest
in Hawaii.

I keep monitoring HIHAM, because there's 49 other states on QTH.NET
looking to contact Hawaii hams. They know where to drop an email
and get a response. A few hams have benefited from this.

Since you're a fellow list administrator of QTH.NET, the main difference
(that most hams don't see) is that HIHAM is on the QTH.NET server, and
the person who runs the server believes in two things: (a) no SPAM and
related related trash through his server, and (b) he doesn't imbed
advertising
in the regular outgoing e-mails.

Al doesn't play games with the privacy policy. He takes a person's e-mail
privacy and lack of spam very seriously.

You should see how much trouble he gets from accounts such as hotmail.com,
earthlink.net, aol.com and similar free or common ISPs. He spends a lot of
time on spam filters, getting ISPs to unblock his site because the ISP's
screwed
up on their spam filters and such. All that is done quietly in the
background by
Al, Tim and other volunteers. If you're on Al's admin list, you see the
traffic about the admin tasks he's doing.

And, Al's site is self supported by the subscribers. He pays for the
Internet
network connection and servers out of his own pocket (to the tune of
thousands
of dollars a year) and looks to the voluntary contributions to replenish
the fund.
He sends out a monthly reminder for the mutual assistance.

Just thought you'd like to know.
