[HIham] You can still respond to the threat to amateur radio caused by BPL

The power industry is proposing to the FCC to allow Internet service
over power lines.
The technology is known as BPL or Broadband over Power Line. Several
power companies
have demonstration sites operating on the continental US. ARRL has a
demonstration video of how widespread the effect of RF pollution is on
the HF
bands. The interference would render HF operations in served areas
virtually useless
to long range communications.

Amateur radio is not the only radio service affected. Many federal agencies
and military operations would be impacted by higher noise levels on HF.
This has an effect on matters affecting Homeland Security.

If you are moved to preserve the usability of HF, you still have time to
respond
to the FCC. Comments are due by August 20th. To respond, see the info on
this web site.

with some info on how to use the FCC Electronic Comment Filing System.

Whether you use HF or not, I hope you take the time to comment and preserve
the usability of HF for national security and amateur radio purposes.
