Jim,

Have you found that using a decoder has helped increase the speed that you
can copy with your noggin?

I had a conversation with another ham some years about (maybe 10).  Joe
related how he was copying two coworkers whipping along quite quickly
(perhaps 50wpm).  The next day he comment on how clean their code was and
they said they were using software for both sending and receiving, but that
using the software over time had trained to the point that they pretty much
didn't need it any more.

I use MixW software for High-Speed-CW. I have the keyboard
and paddles at the same speed, so I can switch. I am a little
lazy since I use the decoder when it works. I copy the slower
Morse in my head to check the decoder which does not work
under all conditions.
