Hi people.... new guy here...Well I wanted one for years and I finally took
the plunge and bought a Henry amplifier. I found it in lightly used perfect
condition.... a 2KD Classic vintage 1985 from a fellow in Batavia, IL.

Yesterday I cleaned it all up, checked the tubes (the original Eimac's) and
wow..... these things are well built.... like tanks !

No sign there was ever any arcing on the rf components or any other
problems.... and nice and clean inside too....no smoke.... hardly any
dust.... woo hoo ! Less work for me.

I did find one sign of an arc in the power supply compartment. The right
end of the high voltage diode D101 which is along and just under the left
rear lip of the amp is connected to D102 ... the other 7.5 KV rectifier with
a short jumper. D101 arced at the point where it is connected to this
jumper to the inner protective top cover. I unsoldered the connection and
resoldered it.... then put shrink wrap over this point. I have not powered
up the amp yet.... need to hook up some 220 to my shack... but the diode
appears to be fine and the arc doesn't appear to be related to anything with
the diodes performance....

It appeared to me that there was a short "peg" of the jumper wire that was
above the solder point and apparently just close enough to have at one time
arced to the cover.

Anyone else ever notice this ? Any other words of advice on the 2KD Classic
? This one doen't have 10 meters added.... what's involved in adding it ?
Looks like a replacement L2 coil at least ?

Thanks,
