[Henry] Henry 2K relay problem

I spent some time working on the old Henry 2K. The model I have is very old
and only has
one position for 80 and 75 and has the old time delay relays (115N020 and
6N02) that went with the 3B28 rectifiers. I have long since replaced the
3B28's with the solid state stacks that plug into the tube sockets. K4PI
advised me long ago to get rid of the time delay
circuit as this has caused more problems over time than anything else.

First, I found that the 20 second delay works fine but I noticed that the 2
second delay
never closed the second relay. I turned off the high voltage toggle switch
and noticed that
the HV stayed on. Upon turning it off and on the relay came on and the
transceiver keyed the Henry. In the past I have had problems with the
control lock switch that is depressed by the bottom plate but this works
fine. I did notice that the High voltage went off with the toggle switch
off and the panel removed. So the problem is either the 6N02 or the relay.
I found another 6N02 and have cleaned up the relay (dusty basement) and
according to the VOM it makes good contacts on all relay contact points.

For now I switch on the high voltage switch and then switch it off and on
again and although I don't hear the second relay clunk. The amp now keys
OK. I use the amp on 17 and 12 at about 600 watts out. My LK 500NTC does
not work at all and my 8877 has too tight a tuned input for much output on
either band. My exciter is an older ICOM IC740 and the Henry amp only
requires an open or closed circuit to key. The Henry is the easiest amp to
key and so far I have not found a transceiver that has a problem with the
Henry. I have relay boxes on all my Yaesu's that work with the LK500NTC and
8877 amp (used for low band 80/160).
