OK. I just checked the manuals for the DX-60 and the HG-10:
The way the interconnecting cable is wired normally, the key should be
plugged into the DX-60, and not into the HG-10.
With the mode switch on the HG-10 set to OPERATE, the VFO is keyed along
with the transmitter. This, in my opinion, provides a good quality signal
on 80 and 40,. but may output a bit of chirp on 20 and up.
To make the VFO operate constantly without being keyed, simply set the
mode switch to SPOT. This disconnects the grid-block keying circuit and
turns the VFO on without keying.
This should provide an output signal with less or no chirp.
Now some HG-10s do sound very good on the higher bands, even when keyed.
