[Heathkit] HR-1680 Dead Band *UPDATE*

Hello everyone,
After going through the HFO circuit and finding it was OK.  I went 
through the HFO coil adjustment.  Still no oscillation.  I replaced the 
crystal with a Heathkit "pull" I found online.  The oscillator fired 
right up and the radio receives FB on 15 meters.
I took the old crystal to my ham/neighbor's house and he checked the 
crystal activity for me.  He said it showed good activity. Evidently not 
good enough though.  I wish I had checked the replacement before I 
soldered it in.
Thank you to everyone for your suggestions.  This project can now go in 
the very small fixed pile!
