Never said you couldn't receive AM on a SB-110 even if it's only one AM
sideband. I also know how to receive AM signals on a SSB receiver with my
many years of experience, but what's the point. The SB-110 is a great 6M
SSB/CW transceiver. If your interest is mainly 6M AM, dump the SB-110 and
get an AM/CW or AM/SSB/CW transceiver. The SB-110 would command a much
better resell price if one didn't circuit diddle to try and add AM to it.
And then, there might be the consideration of activity; since last
September, I've only heard 3 AM stations even here in the metro NY/Philly
area. Original poster might want to consider over all 6 meter AM activity
in his area. The main action on 6 meters SSB; lesser amounts on CW
although this goes up during band openings; and all the other modes only
to a small degree. I can operate 6 AM with either my Clegg 66'er, Clegg
Thor, Clegg 99'er, Clegg Zeus/Interceptor, Lafayette HA-460, Flex 5000,
and most of my imported rigs, but, many times, the area of 50.4 MHz
becomes a very lonely place to be.
