[Heathkit] DX-100 or Apache?

The DX-100 covers 160-meters whereas the Apache doesn't.   But, the VFO in the Apache is more stable.

The Apache modulation is not the best as original.  However, by changing 3-components and unplugging the 6AL5 clipper tube, the modulation improves greatly.

Subject: [Heathkit] DX-100 or Apache?

Hello All,

I may soon be trying to choose between a DX-100 and an Apache for a 100 watt
AM/CW rig. From what I'm able to determine about the two rigs, the Apache
seems the better choice, but I thought that I would check with you folks
with the experience. Any "gotchas" with either one?
