[Heathkit] Calibrating a DX 100B VFO

I am embarrassed to admit the extreme confusion I am suffering as I read pages 52 et sec of the Heathkit assembly manual for my DX 100B. It is performing excellently on CW and AM putting out a stable 135 watts to a dummy load. All controls are working as they should in a non erratic manner.
I am extremely proud of this nice looking transmitter, but I am suffering a case of senility when it comes to calibrating and bandspreading the VFO. I have the manual instructions but the just don't do me very much good. The VFO is working and is stable but I just can't seem to get the interlocking adjustments to function as they should.
Does anyone wit a DX 100 and manual understand this procedure well enough to help me through this procedure? I will be unavailable from this evening until Monday. When I am available, Monday, I would like to complete this and get it in the cabinet so I can tackle the DX 100 that is waiting for attention.
I hate to confess my stupidity but at age 74 there are a few cells not communicating in what was once a brain. Thanks and 73, John, K5PGW
