Not surprising. Nothing happens in a vacuum; when you add another circuit
element (the 610 and cable) to the IF, you change the parameters of the
circuit. You need to either leave the scope connected at all times, or buils a
small solid-state buffer amp into the radio to isolate the IF from the added
circuit element.
