[Heathkit] Heathkit Power Transformers

Most of the equipment didn't have overloaded power transformers.  For some reason, the DX-35 and DX-40 did.  However, in the DX-60 the power transformers do not usually fail.  Same for the DX-20.  I haven't heard of any real problems in the DX-100 series or Apache.  At least mine are still going strong.  Same for the SB- Line and the HP-23 series power supplies.

I just read the sad story of the demise of the DX-40 power transformer and Glen
Zook's comments that they often failed after just a few weeks. This begs the
question as to whether most Heathkit ham gear was powered by undersized power
transformers? Yet, here we are 30 to 40 yrs later and a lot of pieces have
survived with the original transformers still buzzing & humming for our hamming.
