[Heathkit] alignment of sb-303

Hi Glen,
One of my funniest experiences at the Heathkit store, was a customer
brought his '303 in because it "WOULD NOT" tune. Turned out he
applied glue to all the slugs during assembly to "keep them from
falling out of the coil forms", The Manager gave him an assembled
SB-303, and suggested he Not try building KITS!!

Sigh, I did a lot more Laughing back then!

Try putting a metal Allen wrench down the slug and then heat the end of the 
Allen wrench with a soldering iron. Don't try to turn the slug with the 
Allen wrench but immediately remove the Allen wrench and then try with a 
plastic tuning tool.

There is always the possibility that the slug is cracked and you will have 
to remove the slug, one piece at a time, and replace it.

Started to align the 303 today and ran into a problem with the slugs in the 
Het Osc Board. 3 of them are frozen in place. The slugs look ok, but being a 
wax coated paper tube I don't know how to get them to loosen up. Can't use 
heat, can't strong arm them, they are to fragile. I was told to use a small 
drop of water down the tube and let it sit. Haven't tried it yet. Does 
anyone know of a source for the coils or a source for the whole board,would 
consider both. Any ideas on how to loosen the slugs ,would be welcome.
