Law enforcement doesn't care if you own a scanner!
Law enforcement gets in an uproar when one is used in a motor vehicle -
*by those whom are breaking the law!* - that's the only reason they get
uptight.
It used to be, here in Virginia, that State Police, (Troopers),
communicated in the open.
Now, as have almost everywhere else, they are transmitting digital data.
This is the USA!
Buy what you want! Don't squawk when even the ARRL does a review on
these, and may have an advertisement in QST.
I've been stationed in countries where saying something in public
against the government can make you disappear!
That would be South Korea. They are our *friend*.
Think about all the squawking!

How many guys out there started this hobby by monitoring and listening first to the "bands" sparking our interest to get our tickets.. I'm an Extra and I owned a TS-520 BEFORE I ever had a license.. Nobody blocked me from purchasing it ? FYI..It's legal to buy a CAR if you do not have a drivers license also.... That's why you are blessed by living in the USA. Be glad you Don't live in a country where Big Brother tells you what you can and cannot buy..
> So this transceiver from Meritline is legal to sell and buy with or without a license. It's not legal to transmit on a frequency you are not licensed to transmit on...But that doesn't mean you can't own and listen to the radio.
