[Heathkit] SB-104A question...!

Hello, gang,
My '104A runs pretty well, except for one annoying thing:
Sometimes, if I want to tune just a bit - say .1kHz - the VFO and frequency
might jump a kHz or more. If I wiggle the VFO knob and tune off quite a bit
and then return to where I started, it stabilizes and I can then go in .1kHz
increments if I like.
Doesn't always do this, but when it does it sure is annoying. There's no
optical encoder in this VFO, so what might be the issue? Loose ground
somewhere perhaps? Where might I start looking?
