HW-101 output power on 80 meters.
I have performed the transmitter and receiver alignment per the Heath HW-101 manual
and have measured the following output power:
3550 kHz: 72 W
3650 kHz: 115 W
3750 kHz: 115 W
3850 kHz: 100 W
3950 kHa: 49 W
The measurements were taken by measuring the voltage across a precision 50 Ohm oil filled
dummy load using an oscilloscope of known calibration. Power was also monitored using an
RF power meter of known calibration as well. Both methods are in agreement.
I also monitored the input to the driver tube with the oscilloscope. The control grid
voltage showed a corresponding drop at 3550 and 3950 kHz.
Power output on 40 through 10 meters is fairly uniform across the entire amateur bands,
with a small drop on the 10 meter band, which was expected.
So, my question is has anybody observed power dropping off near the ends of 80 meters
on other HW-101's? If so, were you able to correct it, or is this just the nature of
the beast?
