[Heathkit] cleaning wafer switchs

A friend brought over a sb-101 ,acting funny. Pulled the case and looked at all the band switch's, any rotary switch has been cleaned with something and all the wafers are wet looking. I found out he slopped dexoit on all the wafers. Is there a way to clean the switch's and wafers with something to get the excess cleaner, deoxit, off of everything?
