Good afternoon, Jim.

That's all very fine, but if one acquires a DX-100 and there are 
problems, one needs to deal with them.  Believe me if it worked, I 
wouldn't be doing all of this.  This is a 50+-year-old radio, after 
all.  Nothing lasts forever, not even DX-100's :-).

This is not a big deal... I'll fix it one way or the other and will 
have it back on the air soon.  I will order some 6146A's this 
afternoon and see if that fixes the infamous 6146B issue (YMMV on the 
6146B issue but Heathkits aren't the only radios that are subject to 
that problem... some KWM2's run fine with 6146B's but many including 
mine do not).  After they come we'll see if that fixes the problem, 
and if not and if retightening all the hardware and checking all the 
bypass caps doesn't do it, I'll be back here for more advice.  :-)
