[Heathkit] SB-610 solid state conversion

I say go for it OM!
While your developing your attack plan, I think it would be good for you to
see what can be done to improve the power supply in order to save the old
transformer. They only exist nowdays in a junker unit and many of those
junkers got that way from transformer suicide.
As a straight up SB 610, they are a real pain to repair. Problems develop
way beyond simple rectifier/ filter cap replacement. As a first repair job
with BA stuff, it's a killer!
