A grommet is a good idea. I'd tie a knot inside the case to act
as a strain relief. With a two wire cord, I've often used the
"UL knot".

Interestingly, looking to find that knot on the 'net, I came

Might be worthwhile trying to find something similar for three
wire.

Anyway, just an overhand knot inside the case would help.
