[Heathkit] need signal levels for SX-42

Hi all;

I am still working on the SX-42. It works but not good. Poor gain on all
bands , but #6 which is dead. One thing at a time. I don't know if the
problem is in the RF, IF, or audio stages. Every thing I check looks
good. Both the 455 kc and 10.7 mc IF strips aligned good. My problem is I
don't know what the signal levels should be at the mixer input, output,
detector outputs for a given signal in. I have a URM-25 generator so I
can set signal levels pretty accurately. I tried to do stage gain
measurements but the first one... from the antenna terminals to the
second mixer grid... is given as 25X. I measured 2X. However it says 600
kc which is band one and band one and two do not use the first RF stage,
so what are we measuring? The gain through the passive circuits from the
antenna terminals to the second mixer grid? Can anyone tell me what the
signal levels should be? And at what frequency? Thank you very much.
