Your HW-101 doesn't have the optional (additional cost) CW filter installed.

I am new to the list. I have been reading through some of the old postings with no luck. I am looking for an answer to a question.

I have an HW101 that I restored to working order. I completely rebuilt the power supply, and have gone thru the radio and replaced several resistors and capacitors. Checked all voltages and everything seems fine. I had this radio in service for about a year since aquiring it in August of 2006.

I have not used the radio for a while since aquiring a Kenwood TS-830 complete station in January 2008. I tried to use the HW the other evening for some CW work. In receive, I can hear static and not a clear tone on CW with the switch in the CW mode. If I move it to either LSB or USB then I can hear the tone just fine.

Any ideas as to what could be the issue? I have read thru the trouble shoot portion of the manual as well. I was told it maybe the BFO? Not sure if what I am looking for and if there is a simple adjustment? Thank you.
