Scott:
The HW-101 uses the same BFO crystal and oscillator for CW reception and
USB reception. If you are not receiving CW correctly, but USB reception
is OK, check the contacts on the Mode switch and look for a cold solder
joint on the switch. In receive, make sure that you have B+ on V16A, pin
1 in both the CW and USB positions.
( For CW transmit, a different oscillator and crystal are used. The CW
transmit crystal is also selected by the function switch and the
transmit or receive oscillator is selected by a set of relay contacts.
In CW or LSB transmit, the B+ is switched to V16B, pin 6. If you have CW
transmit problems, check the Function switch and relay contacts. As a
last resort, you may have a cold solder joint on the Y3 CW carrier
crystal pins or a bad crystal.)

In receive, I can hear static and not a clear tone on CW with the switch in the CW mode. If I move it to either LSB or USB then I can hear the tone just fine.
