Ah, cool.  The crystal change is what I figured so this is good.
Using a VFO hadn't occurred to me (doh!) but I'll check that out.

One plan is to install crystals for the 80, 60 and 40m RACES
frequencies with sideband selection ganged to the channel select
switch.  The driver & PA tanks would have to reworked but that's a
little headscratching assisted by calculators available on the web.
(Ah, the wonders of cheating!)  Unlike the HW-101, the path from mic
to antenna doesn't have any extra twists and turns (band setting
oscillator & mixer) so would be easy to calculate.  Easy is good for
those of use who tend toward lazy.  :-)
