I you are referring to the Heath modification sheet which also includes adding the spotting switch:  The only thing is that if you do all of the keying modifications the VFO runs continuously when the transmitter's plate switch is activated.  If you monitor yourself in a receiver this can be annoying.

Now adding the spotting switch is very handy.
