[Heathkit] BAMA and Heathkit docs???

Hi Larry,
I "do NOT" want to reignite the all consuming no-fault filament free flames
of the vacuum tube lovers who truly know a reel radio from a REAL radio! So
just several contrite, concise and hopefully helpful thoughts on the tender
topic of manuals and other things your female ancestory never told you prior
to age thirty.
Some months ago, the astute super electronic tech known as G. Zook, wrote a
number of very fact packed, and also legally accurate, posts concerning
published documents, such as an article purchased by a publishing house or
being donated to said publisher by its author, then appearing in print in an
electronics magazine and the related copyright laws, author's rights etc.
Mr. Zook also extended this treatise to include previously published radio
manuals supplied with an item at the time of its purchase, such as a
Heathkit HW-30.
Then Mr. Zook provided more candid discussions on an individuals legal
rights to reprint and sell for profit, sell for production cost only or
photocopy, or scan and do some desktop publishing provided free to
interested parties.
All in all, Glen did an excellent job of covering a topic with more niches
then a temporarily befuddled mother trying to sort out the party guilty of
pulverizing her imported Italian stained glass window pane as each child
points a fault free - not I! - finger at the "real" guilty doer of "bet yur
gonna get grounded like forever!" window waster! But mom's know. It isn't
magical, psychic or from the local newspapers astrological column
enlightening all about ascending house cusps or Aunt Garter's green tea
leaves from some dark and mystic shop in China! Well, those leaves used to
be kind of green ... Fifty some years later though they do have a heavy hint
of Autumn leaf rot brown to them!
Please take the time to go to the HHI web site, (Halligan's Hallicrafters
International), and use the 'search' feature. Locate the posts by Glen about
copyrights and so forth. Then do a cut/paste into MS Word, or whatever makes
your bits byte, edit out the greater then symbols, totally bizarre
characters and symbols, left justify the document and so forth. Then title
the document with a name that you can remember! Save it to several folders,
or to us who still believe in the Ether Bunny and DOS and ASCII, to what
'real' computer wizards refer to as a "directory"!
Now 'before' you exit Word Pad, or whatever by whomever that works
sometimes, but always never, load up the Laser printer or Ink Jet printer or
even the old IBM Pro Printer with 24? pins for its dot matrix character
generation and print several hard copies of this valuable series of posts!
Yes! Print more then one! Then please be sure to send the old blind wonder
here a hard copy so I do not have to edit it by ear!
Thank you Mr. Zook! Now listen up guys! This is darn good stuff, so do what
I suggest. It will be time well spent.
Duane Fischer, W8DBF
